Iniziato nel corso della XXXIII Spedizione (2017-2018), l’impianto eolico è stato progettato per coprire totalmente il fabbisogno di energia elettrica richiesta dai “carichi invernali”, da aprile a ottobre, quando la stazione è chiusa, ma è in grado di dare anche un contributo energetico nel corso del periodo estivo, quando la stazione è aperta, operando in parallelo con la centrale elettrica della Stazione.
